Tips to Stay Calm in a Stressful Situation

June 26, 2008

While most of us never have to deal with the life-or-death dilemmas of a bomb squad, everyday situations, such as job interviews, public speaking, and family emergencies, can be every bit as stressful if we’re not accustomed to dealing with them. Learning how to remain calm in times of stress will not only make things go more smoothly immediately, it can also, over time, help you lead a healthier, happier life. Here’s how to keep your cool when the pressure mounts.

  • Stress about future events is mostly caused by fear, and stress over things in the present is usually caused by a feeling of powerlessness.
  • You probably already know this, but what you need to remind yourself is that, without negativity, stress, sadness or depression in life, there wouldn’t be joy, excitement or happiness in life. It’s like the yin and yang; they’d simply not exist without each other. It’s true that nobody has an easy life forever. It comes to you sooner or later. This is a natural thing, just like that tingly feeling inside when you’re in love, those butterflies in your stomach that you get because there’s something so important to you and you don’t want to lose it, a cute little puppy that just makes you want to lift those lips and smile. It’s all a natural part, a cycle people have to go through sooner or later in life.
  • Focus on someone else who is in the same situation as you and try to tune in to that person’s calm. Remember that if he or she isn’t nervous, you probably don’t have to be.

Google Analytics for a website

May 21, 2008

Google Analytics is a free service offered by google that gives visitors statistics for any website. It allows us to track the potency of our online marketing activities and helps us to optimize the substance and layout of the website. It includes transition goals, funnel route analysis, Google Ad Words consolidation and e-commerce tracking. The main goal of Google Analytics is to authorize us with the complete related information to maximize our marketing ROI and increase website conversions.

What we can know with the help of Google Analytics

Google Analytics offers the most value when configured properly to meet specific needs. Once Google Analytics is setup and reporting, the next logical step is

  • To analyze the data
  • We can define and track conversions, or goals
  • We can track the unique visitors of the site
  • We can track the page views, visits
  • By using this tool, marketers can determine which ads are performing, and which are not, as well as find unexpected sources of quality visitors
  • All users can officially add up to 50 site profiles. Each profile generally corresponds to one website
  • Google Analytics also provides integration with Google Adwords
  • Users can see ad group and keyword performance as part of their reports
  • It also provides some more advanced features, including visitor segmentation and custom fields

The information we can track from Google Analytics for a website

As we have discussed that with the google analytics we can track the website’s statistics and those statistics include the following

Hit: The total number of visitors or page views provides a more realistic and accurate assessment of popularity. The number of hits received by a website is frequently cited to emphasize its popularity, but this number is extremely misleading and dramatically over-estimates popularity.

Page View: A single page view may generate multiple hits as all the resources required to view the page are also requested from the web server.

Visit: A visit is expected to contain multiple hits and page views.

First Visit: A visit from a visitor who has not made any previous visits.

Visitor: The uniquely identified client generating requests or page views within a defined time period either it could be a day, week or month.

Unique Visitor: A Unique Visitor counts once within the timescale.

Unique User: A visitor can make multiple visits. The Unique User is now the only mandatory metric.

Repeat Visitor: Visitor who had made at least one previous visit to the website. The period between the last and current visit is called visitor recency and is measured in days.

New Visitor: A visitor that has not made any previous visits.

Singletons: Only a single page in a website is viewed by number of visits is said to be called as a singletons.

Bounce Rate or % Exit: The percentage of visits where the visitor enters and exits at the same page without visiting any other pages on the site in between.

Visibility time: The time a single page is viewed.

Staying safe while conducting a job search on the Internet

May 5, 2008

Online Job search is one of the important sources to get a job for the job seekers. The thought of posting your resume online and exposing yourself to hundreds and thousands of company’s gives you a new hope to make a successful online job-hunt. How do job seekers protect themselves while continuing to circulate their resumes online? The key to a successful online job search is learning to manage the risks. Here are some tips for staying safe while conducting a job search on the Internet.

Job search sites privacy policy

If you are considering posting your resume online, make sure the job search site you are considering has a privacy policy. The policy should spell out how your information will be used, stored and whether or not it will be shared. You may want to think twice about posting your resume on a site that automatically shares your information with others. When reviewing the site’s privacy policy, you’ll be able to delete your resume just as easily as you posted it.

  • What advantages you can take from a site features

Most of the job search sites offer levels of privacy protection. Before posting your resume, carefully consider your job search objectives and the level of risk you are willing to assume. Some sites offers three levels of privacy from which job seekers can choose.

The first is standard posting: This option gives job seekers who post their resumes the most visibility to the broadest employer audience possible.

The second is anonymous posting: This allows job seekers the same visibility as those in the standard posting category without any of their contact information being displayed. Job seekers who wish to remain anonymous but want to share some other information may choose which pieces of contact information to display.

The third is private posting: This option allows job seekers to post their resumes without having it searched by employers. Private posting allows job seekers to quickly and easily apply for jobs that appear on CareerBuilder.com without retyping their information.

  • How can you protect your identity?

Some experts say that one of the ways job seekers can stay safe while using the Internet to search out jobs is to conceal their identities. Replace your name on your resume with a generic identifier such as: Confidential Candidate or Confidential Resume. You should also consider eliminating the name and location of your current employer. Use just a name of the company you have worked before and give general description of the company

  • How can you give a title to your resume?

You can give the title where your knowledge is best suitable for the job for example if you have experience in the field of Marketing you can give “Experiences Marketing Representative”. If your job title is unique, consider using the generic equivalent instead of the exact title assigned by your employer.

  • Use of Specific Email Addresses

Use the specific Email address only for your job search. This will safeguard your existing email box in the event someone you don’t know gets a hold of your email address and shares it with others. This may also eliminates the possibility that you will receive unwelcome email solicitations in your primary mailbox.

  • References

You need not give complete details of the references. There’s no sense in safeguarding your information while sharing private contact information for your references. If your resume contains a section with the names and contact information for your references, take it out.

  • The information you need to keep confidential

You should not share your social security, driver’s license, and bank account numbers or other personal information, such as marital status or eye color. Credible employers do not need this information with an initial application. Don’t provide this even if they say they need it in order to conduct a background check. If that is so important then you can provide the company at the time of Final interview.

Before posting your resume online

April 17, 2008

There are hundreds of sites where you can post your resume online, but before posting your resume online the job seekers should have the clear idea of how they can post their resume what are the benefits they get in online search, and how can they get success from their online job hunt? The following are some of the important considerations for the jobseekers to attain success in their online job search

  • If you don’t have a resume yet, create one as outlined
  • Update your resume so that when you post online it would look better formatted
  • Convert your resume to a text-only document.
  • Update the words and phrases in your resume so that an employer or recruiter doing an online search will find your resume.
  • Many online job portals have what they call a Resume Builder and/or a Paste your Resume section. To fill out that resume builder section, you’ll need to collect your job history, education information, and skills from out of your resume and type them in separately, the name of the company you worked for and start and end date.
  • Keep a Word formatted copy of your resume as many job boards also allow you to upload the .doc version.
  • Create a cover letter that makes more sense to an employer who finds you online.
  • Interested hiring managers will generally ask for a better-formatted resume than what the job board offers them.
  • Customize your resume if your resume is long, you may want to consider preparing multiple specialized resumes for each type of job you would consider.
  • You can’t be specific and talk directly to your new boss by name on a job board, so you should change your cover letter to reflect that. Your cover letter should also be converted to a text-only document
  • There are many online job sites that are specific to an industry.
  • The more job sites you are on, the higher your chances of being found by your future employer.
  • Target the big job portals first and it doesn’t mean that you should completely ignore the smaller boards.

How to choose topic for a website

April 3, 2008

Everyone who are with the interest of creating a website seems to have an idea of selecting the topics. It often seems so simple. “Just come up with a cool idea, build a website, and sell it for millions to Yahoo or Google and you’ll be rich!” If your goal is to create and manage a successful website and make money with it then the simple approach is recommended.

Basic idea

  • It’s not a good idea for a common man to select and opt for the websites like orkut.com, face book and my space because the programming and technical knowledge needed to build and maintain is very costly.
  • These sites look cool on the surface but there are a lot of hidden headaches that the average person does not see.
  • Even if you were going to pay a programmer to create your site, it would cost you thousands of dollars.
  • Not to mention you’d probably need dedicated hosting space, which can cost you hundreds of dollars per month. You can forget the $10/month hosting plans.

For Example if you are interested in preparing desserts. You could create cookery related website where you can offer all your favorite recipes.

You’d create your site and then spend time learning about SEO (search engine optimization) so your pages get found in Google, Yahoo, etc. Then you could make money from Google ads and refer other products that your audience may find interesting.

If your goal is to make money through websites then you should know how important it is for you to select something that holds your interest. Remember, this is going to be a site you will need to update frequently to keep your visitors interested and maintain your traffic levels.

So it’s important that you should select such topics that you know a lot about or at least have some interest in learning more.

The Things to Avoid

The next important thing is to avoid making money with a website initially. This part of making money immediately is a big trap many newcomers fall into. If they can’t decide on a topic they choose the make money online idea since they want to make money themselves. It’s always a bad idea to choose a topic that you have no experience with.

These are all things you must execute well if you want to become successful, and it will not happen overnight. It’s much better to start small and simple with a site like and once the traffic and money starts coming in, then you can expand to something more robust and complex. It will save you a lot of money time and unnecessary headaches. So choosing the topic for a website is crucial and important.

Resume Writing Tips -1

March 27, 2008

You might have spent a lot of time searching for your dream job and applied for a job in every challenging company you came across. Even then you are not receiving any interview calls from the companies you opted, if you go inside thinking that you will find the possible reasons:

  1. One possibility could be that you did not have the necessary expertise to qualify for the jobs that you applied for. This trouble can be solved to some extent by upgrading your skills or enrolling in a class that could have you qualified for the work.
  2. On the other hand, it could also be possible that your resume never got noticed. No matter how qualified you are, your resume will not be considered if it is not structured properly.

Generally, most companies obtain hundreds of resumes on a regular ground. In order to simplify the recruitment procedure, employers and recruiters generally screen applications on the basis of resumes. All those resumes that are badly written are discarded first - making way for well-written, attention-grabbing resumes.

Few Points to consider in writing resume

  • The content of your resume should be relevant. If you are applying for a post in a company where your qualification is not suitable it could become a time waste for the recruiters. Think about it just makes sense.
  • And the next thing you need to consider is that outdated information should be strictly avoided when preparing your resume.
  • Make sure that the content is arranged properly and in the right order so that your employers can easily find the details they are interested in.
  • You must have the necessary documents that can support the qualifications and achievements mentioned in your resume.
  • Do not write elaborate explanations to justify why you had to leave your previous job.
  • Before submitting your resume, ensure that there are no spelling mistakes or grammatical errors.
  • Do not forget to attach a cover letter with your resume. A cover letter is as important as a resume and you can’t afford to overlook its significance.
  • You should not resubmit your resume if you are failing to receive the interview calls.

In other words, a web browser is a software application that allows one to view pages on the World Wide Web.

Web browsers also come with some features. Some common features that are included with web browsers are spell checkers, search engine toolbars, download managing, password managing, bookmark managing, as well as form managing. VivoActive allows viewing of on demand audio and video from sites that offer VivoActive content, and Adobe Acrobat Reader allows access to PDF files on the World Wide Web.

Website Planning

March 5, 2008

Before creating and uploading a website, it is important to take the time to plan exactly what is needed in the website. Thoroughly considering the audience or target market, as well as defining the purpose and deciding what content will be developed are extremely important.

Purpose: It is essential to define the purpose of the website as one of the first steps in the planning process. A purpose statement should show focus based on what the website will accomplish and what the users will get from it. A clearly defined purpose will help the rest of the planning process as the audience is identified and the content of the site is developed. Setting short and long term goals for the website will help make the purpose clear and plan for the future when expansion, modification, and improvement will take place. Also, goal-setting practices and measurable objectives should be identified to track the progress of the site and determine success.

Audience: Defining the audience is a key step in the website planning process. The audience is the group of people who are expected to visit your website – the market being targeted. These people will be viewing the website for a specific reason and it is important to know exactly what they are looking for when they visit the site. A clearly defined purpose or goal of the site as well as an understanding of what visitors want to do/feel when they come to your site will help to identify the target audience. Upon considering who is most likely to need/use the content, a list of characteristics common to the users such as:

  • Audience Characteristics
  • Information Preferences
  • Computer Specifications
  • Web Experience

Taking into account the characteristics of the audience will allow an effective website to be created that will deliver the desired content to the target audience.

Content: Content evaluation and organization requires that the purpose of the website be clearly defined. Collecting a list of the necessary content then organizing it according to the audience’s needs is a key step in website planning. In the process of gathering the content being offered, any items that do not support the defined purpose or accomplish target audience objectives should be removed. It is a good idea to test the content and purpose on a focus group and compare the offerings to the audience needs. The next step is to organize the basic information structure by categorizing the content and organizing it according to user needs. Each category should be named with a concise and descriptive title that will become a link on the website. Planning for the site’s content ensures that the wants/needs of the target audience and the purpose of the site will be fulfilled.

Planning documentation: Documentation is used to visually plan the site while taking into account the purpose, audience and content, to design the site structure, content and interactions that are most suitable for the website. Documentation may be considered a prototype for the website – a model which allows the website layout to be reviewed, resulting in suggested changes, improvements and/or enhancements. This review process increases the likelihood of success of the website.

First, the content is categorized and the information structure is formulated. The information structure is used to develop a document or visual diagram called a site map. This creates a visual of how the web pages will be interconnected, which helps in deciding what content will be placed on what pages. There are three main ways of diagramming the website structure:

  • Linear Website Diagrams will allow the users to move in a predetermined sequence;
  • Hierarchical structures (of Tree Design Website Diagrams) provide more than one path for users to take to their destination;
  • Branch Design Website Diagrams allow for many interconnections between web pages such as hyperlinks within sentences.

In addition to planning the structure, the layout and interface of individual pages may be planned using a storyboard. In the process of storyboarding, a record is made of the description, purpose and title of each page in the site, and they are linked together according to the most effective and logical diagram type. Depending on the number of pages required for the website, documentation methods may include using pieces of paper and drawing lines to connect them, or creating the storyboard using computer software. Some or all of the individual pages may be designed in greater detail as a website wire frame, a mock up model or comprehensive layout of what the page will actually look like. This is often done in a graphic program, or layout design program. The wire frame has no working functionality, only planning.

Albert Einstein

February 20, 2008

Einstein lived as a boy in Munich and Milan, continued his studies at the cantonal school at Aarau, Switzerland, and was graduated (1900) from the Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich. Later he became a Swiss citizen. He was examiner (1902–9) at the patent office, Bern. During this period he obtained his doctorate (1905) at the Univ. of Zurich, evolved the special theory of relativity, explained the photoelectric effect, and studied the motion of atoms, on which he based his explanation of Brownian movement. In 1909 his work had already attracted attention among scientists, and he was offered an adjunct professorship at the Univ. of Zurich. He resigned that position in 1910 to become full professor at the German Univ., Prague, and in 1912 he accepted the chair of theoretical physics at the Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich. By 1913 Einstein had won international fame and was invited by the Prussian Academy of Sciences to come to Berlin as titular professor of physics and as director of theoretical physics at the Kaiser Wilhelm Institute. He assumed these posts in 1914 and subsequently resumed his German citizenship. For his work in theoretical physics, notably on the photoelectric effect, he received the 1921 Nobel Prize in Physics. His property was confiscated (1934) by the Nazi government because he was Jewish, and he was deprived of his German citizenship. He had previously accepted (1933) a post at the Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton, which he held until his death in 1955. An ardent pacifist, Albert Einstein was long active in the cause of world peace; however, in 1939, at the request of a group of scientists, he wrote to President Franklin Delano Roosevelt to stress the urgency of investigating the possible use of atomic energy in bombs. In 1940 he became an American citizen. Einstein’s early work on the theory of relativity (1905) dealt only with systems or observers in uniform (un accelerated) motion with respect to one another and is referred to as the special theory of relativity; among other results, it demonstrated that two observers moving at great speed with respect to each other will disagree about measurements of length and time intervals made in each other’s systems, that the speed of light is the limiting speed of all bodies having mass, and that mass and energy are equivalent. In 1911 he asserted the equivalence of gravitation and inertia, and in 1916 he completed his mathematical formulation of a general theory of relativity that included gravitation as a determiner of the curvature of a space-time continuum. He then began work on his unified field theory, which attempts to explain gravitation, electromagnetism, and subatomic phenomena in one set of laws; the successful development of such a unified theory, however, eluded Einstein.

Improve Your Websites Link Popularity

February 15, 2008

Link popularity is nothing but it is a score of your website, in terms of search engine spiders which is the total number of external links from other websites to your website. Link popularity is related to the link importance that looks at the type of external link and assigns high scores to high quality links. Some of the more complex search engine algorithms combine link popularity with link importance and use it to assign a weighted link popularity score. The weighted score looks at two things: the number of sites linked and the relative importance of those sites. It affects your site because, one site won’t link to another site for no reason, and so a site with a lot of external links must contain valuable content. Lots of links to your site can improve your search engine ranking by keeping you in the search engines. As more sites link to you, the odds increase that search engine spiders will encounter your site regularly and be less likely to drop it from their databases. You can improve your websites link popularity using the services of some professional and affordable SEO companies.

The disadvantage of link popularity as a ranking tool is that it penalizes new sites. Even if you have a terrific site stuffed with valuable content, it still takes time to publish your site and collect links. So do not wait for some webmasters to find your website. Search the Internet to find sites related to yours and compile a list of sites likely to be interested in linking to your site. Email the Webmaster of each site and briefly explain how a link to your site could benefit their visitors. Register with a link exchange service to quickly generate more links pointing to your site. Before you register with a service, carefully study its rules and regulations to make sure your site is eligible. Also check to make sure that the links are relevant to your site content. There are dozens of free sites that provide you links for free, but some of these might be considered as spam by the search engine spiders. There is also a problem some times by the search engines that doesn’t count free websites in their link popularity scores. So look for all the option and improve you link popularity score.

Holiday Stay

January 11, 2008

Last time when I went for a holiday visit we faced a big problem with the stay. There were no vacancies in most of the good hotels. And at the remaining, the prices were so high as it is the season. I don’t know whom to contact, as we came independently not with the traveling agent. After all I got a small condo for a reasonable price when compared to those hotel rooms, which are recommended by the traveling agencies. A local storeowner helped me in getting this stay; otherwise it would be impossible for me.

We all know the widely acclaimed travel agencies offer only hotels rooms when you could rent a house or condominium for 50% to 80% less per square foot. Not only that, but they come with many advantages. Condominiums and houses have a lot more room and amenities such as laundry facilities, barbeques, and fully equipped kitchens enabling a closer feeling to home.

This may not be in every case but in most holiday locations it is better to consider also condos with the hotel rooms to take a better decision regarding the stay at the holiday. I suggest considering a condo instead of a rush holiday hotel recommended by a traveling agency. Wish you a nice holiday.

History of Wall Street

December 24, 2007

When I am strolling through the internet I found the interesting history of the Wall Street. Despite widely held beliefs that Wall Street is based on the existence of a wall, maps of New Amsterdam show two different names for this street, and with one name ‘cingel,’ an earthen wall is indeed indicated. However, the name ‘De Waal Straat’ (see map) refers not to a wall, but to an important group of people that helped establish New Amsterdam: the Walloons.

By 1630 the total population of New Netherland was about 300, many being French speaking Walloons. It is estimated about 270 lived in the area surrounding Fort Amsterdam, primarily working as farmers. The Dutch word for Walloon is Waal.

During the 17th century, Wall Street formed the northern boundary of the New Amsterdam settlement. In the 1640s basic picket and plank fences denoted plots and residences in the colony. Later, on behalf of the West India Company, Peter Stuyvesant, in part using African slaves, led the Dutch in the construction of a stronger stockade. By the time war had developed with the English, a strengthened 12-foot wall of timber and earth was created by 1653 fortified by palisades. The wall was created, and strengthened over time, as a defense against attack from various Indian tribes, New England colonists, and the British. In 1685 surveyors laid out Wall Street along the lines of the original stockade. The wall was dismantled by the British in 1699. And while the original name referred to the Walloons, the French speaking Belgians that helped populate these settlements in the beginning, the name was now easily taken to refer to the wall that once was here.

As late as the 1840s, thousands of pigs roamed Wall Street consuming garbage. It was an early sanitation system. In the late 18th century, there was a buttonwood tree at the foot of Wall Street under which traders and speculators would gather to trade informally. In 1792, the traders formalized their association with the Buttonwood Agreement. This was the origin of the New York Stock Exchange.

In 1889, the original stock report, Customers’ Afternoon Letter, became the The Wall Street Journal, named in reference to the actual street, it is now an influential international daily business newspaper published in New York City. For many years, it had the widest circulation of any newspaper in the United States, although it is currently second to USA Today. It is owned by Dow Jones & Company.

Market Research For Business Planning

December 21, 2007

Market research is for discovering what people want, need, or believe. It can also involve discovering how they act. Once that research is complete it can be used to determine how to market your specific product. For starting up a business there are a few things that are

Market information

Market information is making known the prices of the different commodities in the market, the supply and the demand. Information about the markets can be obtained in several different varieties and formats.

Examples of market information questions are:

  • Who are the customers?
  • Where are they located and how can they be contacted?
  • What quantity and quality do they want?
  • What quantity and quality do they want?

Market segmentation

Market segmentation is the division of the market or population into subgroups with similar motivations. Widely used bases for segmenting include geographic differences, personality differences, demographic differences, use of product differences, and psychographic differences.

Market trends

Trends are the upward or downward movements of a market during a period of time. The market size is more difficult to estimate if you are starting with something completely new. In this case, you will have to derive the figures from the number of potential customers or customer segments.

But besides information about the target market you also need information about your competitor, your customers, products etc. A few techniques are:

  • Customer analysis
  • Competitor analysis
  • Risk analysis
  • Product research
  • Advertising research

Powerful Press Kits

December 19, 2007

Now day’s press kits are being used as business cards. If you don’t have one, you have no way to make an introduction and no way to provide valuable information to people with whom you want to do business. Press kit  is a collection of a few vital pieces of information that makes it easier for the media to tell your story accurately and with full details. By putting the power of your press kit to work, your company can enjoy more accurate media coverage, more exposure for story ideas, and more complete information through press coverage. Reporters often want press kits to fact check the spelling of names and products, release dates, company history, and other important details. Press kits can also be tailored to specific events, product rollouts, and grand openings with audio, video, maps, photos and commemorative giveaways. For years, press kits were expensive, custom-printed packets. While those types of press kits still have some limited uses, today’s press kits are most likely to be found online, where they can be accessed around the clock.

While the media are one key target audience, prospective customers, partners, investors, and vendors are also likely to be looking for accurate, detailed information about your company. Press kits provide that information in an organized, easy-to-read format.  Many companies put off creating press kits. If business is good, staff may be too busy to think about a kit, especially if there is no pressing deadline. Some companies are unaware of a press kit’s value, or unsure of what goes in a good kit. Still others are reluctant to make a press kit available online because they want to control access to information. That last reason is the most dangerous. If you don’t have a press kit, your company has already lost control of its information because it has waived its ability to make it easy for reporters to have accurate, updated data and to shape the story.

November 8, 2007

Most of the organizations use resume or applicant tracking systems. This is because the volume of resumes companies receiving. These systems automates many of the tasks necessary for tracking candidates, and also makes it possible for an employer to find a resume they received months or years later. As a result of the technologies used it is important to keep resume in certain format that will be correctly read and interpreted by the systems. Follow these simple tips for making your resume count for your job search.

  • Before writing the first word of your resume, determine the position and industry you want to target. Then make an outline of your presentation and fill in the details of your background making sure you keep the focus on your target.
  • The general rule for page length is 1-page for typical entry level college students and 2 pages for everyone else. There can be exceptions to this but the longer the resume, the less likely it will be read. So make sure your document is concise.
  • Use a font size between 10 and 12 for resume body text.
  • Put name on the first line at the top of the resume in a large font with contact information immediately below it.
  • Don’t include personal information (marital status, children, date of birth, ethnicity) on a US style resume. Note that this information is generally acceptable when preparing an international CV.
  • Don’t include personal information (marital status, children, date of birth, ethnicity) on a US style resume. Note that this information is generally acceptable when preparing an international CV.
  • Use a summary section on resume to give the reader a brief picture of your background.
  • Bulleted listed statements of experience make resume look short and strong. Use quantifiable information and action verbs.
  • Try to avoid inclusion of negative background information, if you have. If you can’t, then make sure you present it in a way that lessens the negative impact.
  • Never write in an arrogant, pompous, or self-serving manner. You’re going to have a tough time selling yourself to a prospective employer if he/she feels you’re talking down to them.
  • Make sure your resume is accurate and be honest with what you say. It is ok to present yourself in the best light you can but an outright lie can hurt you later on if the truth comes out.

USA Budget for 2007

November 7, 2007

The $2.77 trillion budget plan emphasizes spending on the country’s fight against terrorism, while deeply cutting domestic programs. 141 domestic programs will be reduced. The Agriculture Department is hit with the third-largest percentage decrease in spending of any department.

Among the agencies to come under the knife would be Commerce’s biggest, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, which would suffer a 4.3 percent cut, to $3.681 billion. Nearly $440 billion defense budget contains $110.8 billion for military personnel, including a modest 2.2 percent pay increase, as well as $84.2 billion for weapons systems and $73.2 billion for research and development. The growth in defense spending has slowed compared with earlier this decade, suggesting the defense buildup that began in 1999 and accelerated in the aftermath of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks is winding down.

The $63 billion budget eliminates 42 programs — including parent-resource centers, vocational programs and drug-free schools. The department budget is essentially flat. The budget adds money to research some alternative fuel technology. Environmental groups said the funding increases are insufficient. The agency took another financial hit with a proposed budget of $7.32 billion for fiscal 2007. By contrast, Bush proposed spending $7.62 billion last year and $8.37 billion for fiscal 2004.

The president proposes increasing the Department of Homeland Security’s budget of $31 billion for fiscal 2007, by $177 million. Homeland Security would spend $869 million to add 1,500 border patrol agents and 6,700 detention bed spaces. Congress requires adding 2,000 agents per year. The $33.6 billion budget for the Housing and Urban Development Department is a decrease from 2006 that is largely felt in HUD’s signature program for distributing grants to states and cities for urban development.

The administration is proposing to hold the budget for the department and for its main subsidiary, the Internal Revenue Service, essentially flat for the coming year. The Department of Veterans Affairs would see one of the biggest increases in discretionary spending for any agency: a boost of $2.6 billion to $35.7 billion. Most of the spending goes to health care — the department expects to treat 5.3 million veterans next year.

Responsibility of an Individual about ones own Health

November 3, 2007

In layman’s language health is the overall condition of an organism at a given time. Health is commonly thought of as the absence of disease, and indeed it is difficult to discuss one without the other. Equally problematic is the consideration of the health of the body apart from the state of the mind or the spirit, because historically the topics were closely connected, especially before the seventeenth century. Even with these difficulties in mind, it is still possible to focus on certain notions about the health of the human body as a natural state and about how this natural state could be restored or maintained.

Preventive care is a valuable tool in maintaining good health. As a result of having regular medical check-ups one can often identify problems and be careful of them before they turn out to be serious enough to be life threatening.

Some tests thar doctors routinely request any individual to

  • Blood Pressure
  •  Urinalysis
  • Blood Tests
  • Chest X-ray
  • EKG
  • Cancer Testing

One may also wish to be tested for glaucoma and have a yearly dental check-up.
